The Small Business Administration's 8(a) Program was created in
1974 to help minority and other small disadvantaged businesses grow
through a program of assistance with federal contracts. Through
the 8(a) program, eligible firms can compete for Government contracts
with minority and women incentives.
This is the perfect supplement to the Missouri minority program,
the combination of the two gives the qualified business owner a
wide variety of bid opportunities. Although minority or women status
does not guaranty a successful bid, these programs allow small firms
to compete in markets that have traditional been closed to them
